Chow Mein

2 pounds pork or chicken, chopped

3 cups chopped celery

½ pound sliced mushrooms

1 green pepper, diced

1 can sliced bamboo shoots

1 cup water

2 onions, chopped

1 pound bean sprouts

½ pound snow peas

1 can sliced water chestnuts

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 bouillon cube


Over 20 coals or low heat, fry meat with onions until cooked. Add all other ingredients, except cornstarch and ¼ cup water. Cover and cook 20 to 25 minutes. Mix starch and water and add to oven. Cook 5 to 6 minutes more. Serve over rice or chow mein noodles.
